We’re changing our name!
Over the past four years, a lot has changed for us, including how we do business and what we’re focused on. It’s time that our company name reflects our work, honors our roots, and articulates our values. That name is… drum roll…
Inclusion Geeks!
Here are the reasons why we believe this name makes the most sense for the future of our company:
- Every single word (and more!) in the acronym DEI is critical to the work we do. When we reflected on these options, we chose Inclusion because out of these three concepts, it’s the one most people can easily understand without explanation. Diversity can all too frequently be coded for race or gender when it means so much more than that. Equity is confusing to many, and some still think it only concerns VC firms. Inclusion is an easily graspable term.
- We felt it imperative to keep Geek in the name, which honors our company history. It also accurately reflects the way we approach this work – we dive in, we do the research, and we can get geeky about it. We also believe that this work can be awkward at times (conversations are hard!) and geeks are known to be just that. We have a saying here, and that’s Embrace Your Awkward. This is emblematic of who we are at our core.
What does this mean for you?
Hopefully, not much! We’re still doing the work that we’ve been doing while continuing to evolve and expand our work.
